
Dr. Gary Markowitz is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna cum Laude graduate and recepient of the Louis D. Brandeis Scholar Award from Brandeis University. He earned his medical degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, receiving the Titus Munson Coan Prize for research in Ophthalmology. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Institute of the University of Pennsylvannia and then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Motility Disorders at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a specialty fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Markowitz is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at the School of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry where he volunteers in the training of resident physicians. He is involved in numerous pediatric eyecare issues at local, state and national levels. Dr. Markowitz has authored artcles in medical journals and the media. He partipated in several national trials evaluating new therapeutic modalities for ophthalmic conditions in children.
Dr. Markowitz is a board certified ophthalmologist whose practice focus is Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Eye Muscle Disorders. He sees patients with both routine and complicated conditions and also provides second opions to patients when requested to do so.
